DIY Citronella Candle Cachepot
By: Southern Hospitality Company
Some projects aren’t really projects. They’re moments you give yourself. A quiet hour, something warm to sip, a soft scent filling the house while you make something beautiful almost by accident.
I found these little cachepot planters in the prettiest soft blue, just enough color to feel special without trying too hard. They also come in white if you’re feeling classic. I went with the 4-inch size, though there’s a 6-inch version if you want to go a little bigger. These smaller ones were perfect for what I had in mind. Did I mention that the small ones are under $2 and the large are only $5?!?!

I picked up citronella pillar candles, placed them in the planters, and let them sit on a candle warmer for a few hours. That’s it. No double boiler. No pouring wax. Just a slow melt and a house that smelled faintly of lemon and something earthy.
Now they live outside on my covered patio. I light one just as the sun begins to soften. I sit with a glass of something cold, sometimes a book, sometimes nothing at all. The citronella keeps the bugs away, the glow keeps me company.
If you’re looking for a simple project with a lovely reward, this might be the one. I’ll add links so you can find everything: the planters, the candles, even the warmer if you don’t have one already.
Here’s to small things that feel like everything.
